ATUKUTUKU THE UNSUNGED IZON OWIGIRI DANCER

This is John popularly known as Aye, Atukutuku who hails from Okpokunou community who has been dancing for decades without recognition.

His story seem sad to me,cos I have known Aye since 1993 with his dancing prowess, I remembered how he will entertain people by his systematic twisting of his waist as if he is a woman, Aye dances so well that no ijaw musician that has not come accross him. 



He has virtually danced for Late King Robert Ebizimor, Pereama Freetown, Barrister Smooth, Izonebi and the host of them.

Aye after every dance performance goes home with good money,I still remember how Chief Gbonwei doll out several 20 naira bundle on him many years ago in Esanma and he was later robbed by unknowned people. This has constantly repeated itself cos I have heard him cry bitterly after any performance when he is been robbed.

Few years ago Aye had a fatal accident which would have resulted to him loosing his life but fate kept him by causing a huge fracture which has kept his leg in a bad shape till today, despite this Aye due to his passion for dancing still go around commuinties in ijaw land to dance and to make ends meet.

To many people Aye is a mentally sick and needs no help,while to some Aye is been worried by some household enemies.

The lady in the picture according to Aye is the love of his life,and the mother of his children,he said in our ijaw dialect "emene ayeba gha"awou ama ke erema me zi eperedoumene".

According to reports the young lady is having some mental challenges and she also needs help,the child he had with her is been taken care of by a relative.

If life have been favourable to him, Aye would have been among heroes who  have among those whom have overtime displayed,showcased the ijaw dancing steps to the world,I bet you if they are mentioning good dancers in ijaw nation the name Aye will be among them.

A foremost Ijaw activist Comrade Stanley Patrick aka Ogbakiri,a signatory to Kiama declaration and a leader of KOLTA MILITANTS has called on Ijaw leaders to call Proffesor Charlse Dokubo to order and also ask the contractors handling the Bomadi Skill Aquisition centre to quickly complete the project so that Niger Delta youths can benefit from the scheme. Ogbakiri lamented how the project is been slowed down despit the huge amount that is been pumped in to complete it,he said about 85 percent of the total contract sum have been given to the contractors and these contractors instead of doing their jobs they are busy enriching themselves and building mansions for themselves. PROFESSOR CHARLSE DOKUBO,A MAN WITH MANY LIVES...KEN KOLOSI

The story of professor Charlse Dokubo could be likened to Amalanze the cat,that  great wrestler whose back never  touched the ground. Just as the nature of cats  that survive many battles,so is proffessor Charlse Dokubo.  Since the day he emerged as the Special Adviser to the president on the Amnesty pProgramme there are tens of thousands of petitions to remove him from office that he is incompetent and not be able to address the problems of the Niger Delta.
