TEENAGE VALUES, PERCEPTIONS, ATTITUDE AND INFLUENCERS (POSITIVITIES AND NEGATIVITIES)

Image
Lecture delivered by Miss Serena Ogodobiri Teenagers are explorers and when left to explore and discover things on their own they stumble on a lot of things both positive and negative, the decisions they make when cornered at that time is dependent on the orientation given them in years before. Information they received from their family, peer group or social media is what they would apply to the present situation. If it was a good one then it is okay but what happens when it is one devoid of all moral virtues? Parents should know their teenagers are no longer crawling toddlers they can pick up and put in a crib, come back and remove from the crib, they now have a shared responsibility with  their teenagers. The only thing you know as a parent is that your child has gone to school, you have no idea what happens in the school. Influence your child positively so they can speak good of you to their peer group(s) and flee the risk of having to take social advice from them instead. Ofte...

THE UNITY OF IJAW NATION IS IMPERATIVE :BY LATE PRESIDOR GHOMORAI

Image
By Presidor Ghomorai “How well have we faired in the area of getting a well articulated paper to push for our agitation for more States, Local Government Areas and Boundary adjustments?” The oppressor never feels or knows oppression; only the oppressed feels or knows it. It is also only the oppressed that can put a stop to oppression; also only a determined, committed, united and virile group with all sincerity and sense of purpose that can functionally face the toughness involved in fighting oppression.  Therefore the Ijaw people of this world who are being oppressed must today first clamour for commitment and unity coupled with sincerity and genuine sense of purpose for us to put a stop to our oppression.  The Ijaws must know that the Ijaw question is a national issue. So there is the need for us (Ijaw) to come together and work consciously for the Ijaw nation to move forward. As the fourth largest ethnic group with a population of over 15 million, and the producers of appro...

Palace Watch had an interview with the 53-year-old monarch on his experiences on the throne and sundry other issues. How has the journey been? It has been a very nice experience, though there have been many ups and downs. There have been so many afflictions, but the Almighty God, Who started the journey with me, prepared me from inception and has been my guide, has helped to see me through these difficult years of my life. How have you been relating to other traditional rulers in the state, considering the fact that you ascended the throne at 32? I would say there is no classification of traditional rulers in Delta State. Once you are appointed a traditional ruler, you are in the same class with other traditional rulers. So, we have no first, secon...

Image
Samuel writes from Patani It has become a cliché that allocations to the LGAs are for payment of salaries only and while some local government chairmen merely fold their arms complaining about poor funding and economic crunch, others made the best use of whatever situation they find themselves. However, rather than join the bandwagon of executive complainants who defend their abject non performance in the Local Government system, Honorable Perez Omoun Executive Chairman Patani Local Council Council is singing a new and different song and changing the paradigm. Omoun seems to be in a great race to deliver the dividends of democracy to his people than giving excuses and anything else thereby fast becoming one of the best so far..
