IGP LAUNCHES NDDC COVID 19 EQUIPMENT DONATED TO NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE.

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has unveiled the N450 million COVID-19 pandemic medical equipment donated by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the protection of men of the Nigeria Police Force in the Niger Delta region. Launching the equipment, which included Intelligent Disinfection Doors, at the Delta State Police Headquarters in Asaba, the police IG said that they would go a long way in assisting the police to serve the public better. In a Press Statement by Charles Obi Odili, Director, Corporate Affairs said Adamu, who was represented by of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, thanked the NDDC for the gesture, noting: “In our detention facilities we have other members of the society, who for one reason or the other find themselves there. Diezani Ordered By Court To Return To Nigeria For Prosecution

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Friday, ordered former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to appear before it and answer to a money laundering charge filed against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The judge, Ijeoma Ojukwu, gave the order in a ruling on an ex-parte motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/208/2018 brought by the EFCC’s lawyer, Faruk Abdallah. Ojukwu ordered the issuance of summons on Mrs Alison-Madueke for her to be arraigned on the charge. The EFCC had accused the former minister of fleeing the country for the United Kingdom (UK) in order to escape justice. The judge, who ordered that the court’s summons be published on the website of the anti-corruption agency and a national daily in a conspicuous manner, said the development would make it easier for Mrs Alison-Madueke to be aware of the invitation. A 32-year-old man, Sani Garba, paraded by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly raping a 60-year-old woman, has pleaded for forgiveness, saying he was attracted by her ‘shaking buttocks.’ The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said on Friday that the suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to ‘B’ Division, Suleja, adding that he would be arraigned after investigation. It was learnt that the suspect barged into the room of the victim on July 18, 2020, around 4.30pm and raped her. Garba told our correspondent that he forcefully had sex with more than three old women in the community. He said, “Since I didn’t have money to maintain a girlfriend for, I resorted to having sex with old women in my area and I enjoyed doing it. At times I would ask myself ‘why am I into this nonsense?’ It is quite unfortunate that I found myself in this situation.” he narrated.

BUILDING COLLAPSE IN EBUTE META MANY FEARED TRAPPED.

Many residents were trapped as a building collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State on Friday. It was gathered that the building is situated opposite the Health Centre Ebute Metta along Cemetery Street. The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident. He, however, did not disclosed whether any casualty was recorded as of the time of filing this report. “Our personnel are on ground at the scene and rescue operation is ongoing,” Okunbor briskly said.

ABU students bag rail engineering degrees in China

The students went to China in 2018 on a 3+2 joint double degree programme to study railway engineering. According to the Ag Director Public Affairs of the university, Awwal Umar, the students returned on board an Air Peace flight which landed at 2:32 am at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. He added: “The students, numbering 20 were among the first set of 45 students taken to China for the programme on Civil Engineering, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, as well as Traffic Equipment and Control Engineering. “Four students had earlier returned upon conclusion of their studies in February this year before the lockdown arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, and one could not cope due to health challenges. “The remaining 20 students have already been retained by the Chinese University to begin a master’s degree on account of their outstanding performance,” he said. Moses who is the second son of Late Madam Esther described her death as unfortunate,he expressed how the news of her death came to him and seeing him bury his mother the time he needed her most is devastating.
