Governor Diri stated this when the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Soroh, Yenagoa, Commodore Patrick Effah, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Government House.

Sen. Diri said there was the need to tackle cases of sea piracy, kidnapping, robbery, illegal refineries and other activities destroying the Marine environment.

"You know our people live by the water. Many still travel by water to their communities and we use the water for different domestic activities. You and government must work together to make the water ways safe and stop activities leading to environmental despoilation. We are ready to work with you to do that", Gov. Diri assured.

The Commander, NNS Soroh, Commodore Patrick Effah had briefed the Governor on the efforts of the command to tackle insecurity along the waterways including a recent raid where some illegal arms were recovered.
