COMMUNIQUE ISSUE AT THE END OF A CRITICAL STAKEHOLDER MEETING OF IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL (IYC) LAGOS CHAPTER HELD ON FRIDAY, 24TH JAN, 2020 AT SEASON HOTEL LAGOS.*


The stakeholders meeting of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Lagos chapter was attended by critical stakeholders of the IYC Lagos chapter, among those in attendance were the: The IYC National Assistant Secretary General worldwide Amb. Anthony Oki, IYC Lagos chapter Chairman Comrade, Henry Oyobolo, is Executives, former National Officers, former Executives, Coordinators representing each zones in Lagos. Leadership of affiliated Ogbo.   After an exhaustive deliberation on the state of IYC stakeholders resolves as follows:


 

1)                We wish to use this medium to once again to say a very big thank you to our Daddy and Deputy National Leader of Ijaw nation, Chief A.K Horsefall, other leaders and elders who took their time and resources to host a reconciliatory meeting between Barr. Oweilaemi Roland Peretubo and Barr. Eric Omare on the way forward of having a united Ijaw Youth Council worldwide in Lagos on 12th of December, 2019.

 

2)                That the chapter unanimously rejected the proposed constitutional National Convention by the National Leadership on the bases of the non availability of sufficient time before the expiration of the tenure.

 

3)                That the national Executive Council should as a matter of urgency put in place  the necessary machinery for an all inclusive ELECO for a smooth transition that will usher in a very solid and united National Executive Council (NEC).

 

4)                That the National Executive Council (NEC) should take into consideration the security, safety of lives and property of all Ijaws sons and daughter before picking a venue for any event because life has no duplicate.

 

5)                Lastly the stakeholders also used this avenue to appeal to His Excellency: Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson and his counterpart, the Executive Governor of Lagos His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-olu, the international community, organizations,  Private individuals, leaders and elders to urgently come to the aid of our mothers,  children, brothers and sisters who are homeless and displaced due to the demolition of their homes by the Lagos state Government in Takawa Bay, they are going through serious pain, hardship, suffering and are  presently homeless because of this action. So they urgently need relief materials and relocation, so they can have a roof over their head.
