NIGER DELTA SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRE TUOMO IF COMPLETED WILL REDUCE YOUTH RESTIVENESS IN THE RIVERINE COMMUNITIES IN DELTA STATE.


September 2008,the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs was established by the late President Musa Yaradua led adminstration in order to fast track the infrastructural development faced in the Niger delta region.



The Ministry since 2013 have received huge budgetary allocation which can not be measured to the infrastructural deficit we experience, the total sum of 173,745,454,968 billion naira has been released to the ministry to carry out several projects in the region.


The construction of skills acquisition centres in  the nine Niger delta States is one key project that would have galvanized industrialization in the region.

The picture below is one of the skill acquisition centre built in Tuomo community in Burutu local government area of Delta State by the contractor with the name Rt Hon Claudius Inengesi  who was a former Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly during the Ada George administration who hails from Otuasega in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State.



The contractor is said to have been mobilized up to 80 percent to carry out this project.

This project has been abandoned and it is already in a deplorable state even before completion.

The 4 huge sound proof p250 generators lie waste their without been used,these generators can serve as power supply to the training centre and to both the host community and her sister community Bomadi.

The huge land acquired has  not be harnessed for other agro activities like fish farming,poultry,animal husbandry etc.

If this skill acquisition centres is completed it can create an expansion in wealth creation, non reliance to political activities, youths can start producing  shoes for the region,fabrics,best scaffolders,pipe fitters etc instead of sending people to abroad to learn how to weld they can also do it here in the region,it can also serve as hub for manpower supply and development this will in turn create more skilled workers to man the available industries within and outside the shores of the country.

I charge all anti graft agencies,project monitoring boards, well meaning Nigerians to start taking responsibilities on the infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region.

Until we fix culpability to where it belongs we will only be wishing and not experiencing  meaningful development in the region.

A foremost Ijaw activist Comrade Stanley Patrick aka Ogbakiri,a signatory to Kiama declaration and a leader of KOLTA MILITANTS has called on Ijaw leaders to call Proffesor Charlse Dokubo to order and also ask the contractors handling the Bomadi Skill Aquisition centre to quickly complete the project so that Niger Delta youths can benefit from the scheme. Ogbakiri lamented how the project is been slowed down despit the huge amount that is been pumped in to complete it,he said about 85 percent of the total contract sum have been given to the contractors and these contractors instead of doing their jobs they are busy enriching themselves and building mansions for themselves.
