THE MAN CAĹLED BRISTOL......

Today I heartily, felicitate with a true Ijaw son, an advocate of the Niger Delta region and immediate past Nat'l Sec. Gen IYC Worldwide, Engr. Emmanuel Bristol- Alagbariya, as he marks yet another  Birthday milestone.

I celebrate him today because I have followed a lot of youth leaders in the Niger Delta who profess to defending the cause of the region, unfortunately only a few has been able to firmly demonstrate leadership that reflects the ideals of the founding fathers of the ijaw struggle  like Emmanuel Bristol Alagbariya.

He is a youth with great acuity, profound mind and passion for development and well-being of Niger Deltans.  By principle, he stands up for what he believes in, and has shown capacity,  intelligence,  and unwaverng passion for the advancement of a region that has suffered great neglect.

He attracts so much respect, and is held in high-esteem so much that his opinion is constantly sought-after in the media and among relevant stakeholders on burning issues concerning the Niger Delta. Outside the era of our able IYC President emeritus, Comr.
Miabiye Kuromiema that shook the airwaves as a son from Eastern zone, Bristol-Alagbariya has kept that momentum till date, even as an Ex-Natl IYC Exco member. Today, he’s the most outspoken Ijaw youth from Eastern zone on National/local TV/Radio, so much so that AIT for the past six months is till using one of his appearances on their studio adverts.

Honestly, I was  inspired when I met him as a guest speaker in a Niger Delta programme where he spoke about the principle and benefit of institutionalization, the Ijaw perspective.

He shared his thought and told us that the only way the Ijaw struggle can grow exponentially is by the establishment of a functional institutional framework that could strengthen our struggle with a strategic plan of developing per human capital bases. If that inspired me, I was further overwhelmed when I came across his
library of blueprints already initiated for the sustainable repositioning of the region which includes:

1.  The establishment of the Ijaw National Security Council to regulate and coalesce the  individual strength our people have shown to have into a negotiable power block.

2. His idea on having an Ijaw House (Izon-Wari) in Eastern & Western zone, with a chamber for Ijaw Council of traditional rulers to foster harmony amongst ijaw communities and curtail the excesses of politician.

3. Providing an economic front for Ijaw people, by establishing:
The Ijaw Investment company, a multinational conglomerate Ijaw people will own and leverage on.

4. Establishment of Ijaw Young Entrepreneurs & Investors network as an economic hub to redirect young minds towards entrepreneurship.

5. Pioneering an Ijaw National Employment, Capacity Building and Empowerment Bureau.

6. Establishment of Bureau for Ijaw National Development, Project monitoring, Due process and Citizen’s Right Protection. This particular structure will address the spate of abondoned projects and programmes and curb impunity by leaders and politicians.

7. Spearheading the establishment of an Ijaw National Security Company, a business outfit that shall manage and creat an employment opportunity of over 5K workforce for Ijaw youth. This company shall compete healthily with other private security outfits, among others.

From his days in the University where he was seriously involved in unionism,  he has always followed the path that blazes the trail. This Ijaw son is a huge potential, we cannot afford to leave untapped. We should hold onto his laudable initiatives, leverage on his strong personality and harness his knowledge resource. It is imperative we lift him on the stratum of Ijaw leadership to bring these experiences and proficiency to bear.
As we celebrate this great Ijaw son, let's use his resilience and positive energy to reposition our youths and Niger Delta on the path of progress. It is our prayer that God will continue to grant him the soundest of health, greater wisdom and the best of heaven's treasure.

Happy Birthday.
